A show of Polish and Ukrainian songs performed by two accomplished artists from Lviv, now Warsaw: soprano Yaryna Rak and pianist Halina Klymkiv-Szkodzinska.
Soprano Yaryna Rak is a graduate of the M. Lysenko Music Academy in Lviv in the piano class of Maria Krushelnitska and in the opera singing class of Volodymyr Ignatenko and Lyudmila Bozhko. She also completed her artistic training in the opera singing class of Izabela Kłosińska at the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Winner of piano and vocal competitions in Poland and abroad. Scholarship holder of the President of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland. She taught chamber singing for a couple of years at the Academy of Music in Lvov, as well as a master course in vocal interpretation and technique at the University of Music in Tromsø. Currently, she is a tutor for soloists at the Teatr Wielki — National Opera in Warsaw. She cooperates with numerous festivals, philharmonics and theatres at home and abroad as a tutor of soloists and opera singer.
Halina Klymkiv-Szkodzinska is a concert pianist, chamber musician and accompanist. She was born in Lviv, where she graduated from the M. Lysenko State Music Academy in the class of Lidia Krych, receiving a diploma with honours in piano. She is a laureate of the International Piano Competition "Adilia Alieva Piano Competition" in Gaillard (France). She has performed several times on the stage of the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra solo, accompanied by an orchestra, as well as in the composition of a chamber ensemble. On the international stage, she has performed, taking part, among others, in the European Music Festival in Neerpelt (Belgium), the Festival of Contemporary Music in Kiev (Ukraine), the Beethoven International Piano Competition (Czechia). In her work she combines accompanist and pedagogical activities. Since 2006 she has been working in Warsaw, employed as a piano teacher in a music school and as a ballet accompanist in the R. Turczynowicz Secondary Ballet School in Warsaw. R. Turczynowicz. In her artistic work she devotes special attention to the works of F. Chopin and Ukrainian composers, whom she discovers and presents at her shows. Halina Klymkiv-Szkodzinska's debut album with works by F. Chopin was released in 2013.
